 ProgrammingTalk Community Rules
ProgrammingTalk.com is a forum for professional discussions regarding various programming topics. As such, we have developed a set of guidelines which all users must follow when utilizing the forums. Failure to comply with these guidelines, in the sole discretion of ProgrammingTalk.com staff, may result in suspension or termination of user accounts.

In addition to the rules posted here, you are required to read any individual forum rules which may be posted at the top of specific forums as Stickyed Threads or Announcements. By using this forum, you further agree to abide by iNET Interactive's Terms of Use . ProgrammingTalk.com staff assume members have read them and will not take ignorance of any rules as an excuse for not following the rules, policies, and guidelines outlined here and in the Stickyed Threads or Announcements.

Each person is allowed to have no more than one account. If you choose to ignore this important restriction, all your accounts will be disabled. If you would like a username change, please contact a Community Leader by means of Private Messaging.

Posting Guidelines:

The following actions are strictly prohibited:
  • The use of profane words;
  • Attempts to circumvent censored words/phrases;
  • Personally attacking an individual or organization;
  • Posting of any copyrighted materials without the express written consent of the owner;
  • Posting of any sexual-related materials including, but not limited to, pictures, links or sexually explicit text;
  • The use of capital letters, which is the equivalent of “yelling” on the Internet;
  • Advertising of any kind in forums other than those designated as advertising forums;
  • Posting in a language other than English;
  • Posting the same message in multiple forums or threads;
  • Spamming of any kind on the forums or through private messaging;
  • Utilizing the forums as a gathering place for e-mail addresses or other forms of contact methods to sell goods or services;
  • Disrespecting fellow community members;
  • Posting messages that contain simply, “Check your PM/email” or similar;
  • "Bumping" a thread before 24 hours have passed.
  • "Bumping" a thread more than one time in a row.
  • Posting referral or affiliate links anywhere in the forums, including the advertising forums;
  • “Flaming” other members;
  • Falsely “Reporting Posts” to the moderators;
  • Abusing the moderators and admins in any manner;
  • Directing users to the advertising forums for the purpose of soliciting your product or services; or
  • Making meaningless posts which just contain smileys or phrases such as “LOL”;
  • Posting on behalf a banned member.
Any post that breaks these guidelines will be removed and if necessary, a warning/infraction will be given. Important Note: We do not remove posts on requests.

Signature Guidelines:
  • Signatures can be no longer than 6 lines.
  • Images are not allowed in signatures
  • Once you have met the following requirements: membership of 10 days and post count of 10; Your signatures may contain a link to your personal site or sites that maybe of use to other members
  • No advertising
  • Signatures are expected to follow the same guidelines as posts.
  • No referral links

Custom Usertitle Guidelines:
  • May not contain a URL.
  • May not exceed 25 characters.
  • May not impersonate or attempt to impersonate a ProgrammingTalk staff member or a usergroup you are not apart of.

Community Members are strongly encouraged to:
  • Use the search feature whenever possible;
  • Post in the most appropriate forum;
  • Utilize proper grammar at all times so that threads are clear and easy to read;
In order to make use of the Private Messaging and Email features of the forums, you must make 5 posts. If you choose to make meaningless(spam) posts to bypass this restriction, your account will be disabled.

By following these simple guidelines and using common sense, ProgrammingTalk.com will be a community we can all be proud to be a part of. If you feel someone is violating any of these guidelines, please “Report This Post” to the moderators for their review.

These guidelines may be updated from time-to-time as deemed necessary. All community members are bound to these guidelines and any changes to them. Members should make a habit of periodically reviewing the guidelines to insure compliance.
