thanxBorland (developers probably most famous for Delphi) have a free IDE to get started with building your c# applications. To learn more about c# builder please visit there website at http://www.borland.com/csharpbuilder/
SharpDevelop has a very intriguing Visual Studio look a like, developed in c# and offering it's source for both review and modification. Released under the GPL it is without a doubt a powerful c# IDE. To learn more about this IDE, please visit http://sharpdevelop.com/OpenSource/SD/Default.aspx
If you need a good book, I would recommend Visual c# .NET 2003 in 24 Hours by Sams Publishing. I don't personally know the author but he is very helpful and his book is very insightful and aimed towards those who never programmed before.
I also wish to team up with others who is studying this book so to be on the same page. I already purchased Visual Studio Pro 2003 and anyone else looking to do the same I would recommend to contact me. I am taking c# serious and am willing to collaborate with others on the same page.
Good luck Koko and anyone else looking to learn c#!
Best Regards

Learning C# by Jesse Liberty

C# By Dissectionby Ira Pohl

I have both books, the Pohl book I bought because they used it as a classroom text book. I think it is a little easier to understand than the Jesse Liberty one.

For a book, I recomend "Key of C#" by Charles Petzold, awesome book. For an IDE I would say SharpDevelop, Key of C# (found at http://www.charlespetzold.com/ ), or one of the products from Antechinus, found at http://www.antechinus.com/ .
Those should help quite a bit.

I'm going to study the Microsoft method by studying for exams.
I'm thinking of getting the Visual Studio Academic for $90. I have an ID, but I've ordered academic before without needing to send in a copy. It has SQL server stuff that I might not be able to get without it. Check out on the MS site.
I got an ebook. If you look in the right places you can find lots of ebooks. The one I'm using is called "MCAD/MCSD Visual C# .NET Certification All-in-One Exam Guide." It seems to be quite good.
I figure I'll study to take the exams that way I'll learn and get the certification.

Also Sitepoint.com has a nice set of articles and a book out about using C# .NET and ASP to make a website. That would be a fun way to start.
