I was just wondering, where would 'mysql-related' posts go? There isn't a subforum under Databases for it... unless I missed it somewhere. :)

[EDIT] Nevermind... I found it. It's hidden with the PHP forum. :)

hmm.. that got me thinking "Why is the mySQL forum under PHP?" I realize it is utilized most often with PHP, but mySQL is also used in combination with other languages. Just my thought.. but I think it would be better as a sub-forum under Database Discussion/Popular Databases (http://forums.hotscripts.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=94)

That's why I was confused. :) Perl, C++ (cgi), etc. can be used with mysql as well...

I second this as well. mySQL is a database, not some module of php ;)

Yes, you guys have very good points..

This is actually my fault, I started with it under databases as it logically fits there. But it seemed that PHP and mySQL are just like arm and hammer, and so the two should fall together.

We might be seperating arm and hammer based on your input :)

it would be nice..

although i think its Nail and Hammer.. not arm

I think HS meant "arm and hammer baking soda" :p I dunno.. that's what I came up with, as arm seemed strange when first reading it too.

just wondering if anything is done with this? I still feel MySQL is very misplaced where it is right now...

well i dont mind where it is. this way i can work on my php questions and only got 1 click back to go to mysql. but logically it should be in the database forum but my opinion i like it like it is.php use mysql more than the others neway.

yes, but others use mysql as well, and mysql doesn't get proper credit with the current location. it *is* after all a very good database system on it's own.
