I'm looking for a forum script that allows you to have subforums with separate templates from the main board. I have a site for musicians and the idea is that I can host boards for individual bands on the one system, allowing them to have their own logo and colour scheme.
Any ideas of a free forum that can handle this? (I use php and mysql)
Cheers, Joey.
It is possible, I've seen them but that forum was made by them self and not open source... :( and in CGI

Since posting this I've been experimenting with XMB (http://www.xmbforum.com/) which seems to pretty much allow me to do this.
Only weird thing is that when I try and post a message the page reverts to the default theme, not the theme for the board we're actually posting a message to.
Does anyone have experience with this board?
Cheers, Joey.
is XMB still alive? I heard that project died a while ago? has someone taken up the project again?

yep, we are alive... XMB 1.9 out soon ;)
Joey, that is not a problem I have had experience with; try posting on our support boards(http://www.xmbforum.com/community/boards)
edit: having searched around a bit, that seems to be a bug that is being addressed for XMB 1.9, that will be available soon.

Stefan, you want to here an interesting story about XMB?
Well, i was a developer way back there with the original developers (i think i submitted my first piece of code into 0.05). Then, others joined the team at around 0.75 (Wj, Dine.. others). As the project continued the lead developer left for other reasons and the project was taken on by revres_xunil. He continued to admin for some time making 'Richard' a moderator of the forums. Then we all got sick of revres way of admining things and the fact things never got done so we left (Wj, Dine, Thejavaman, and myself left to form DevBB/myBB). The project was then taken up by Richard and his 'AventureMedia Team'.

Do you have to bring that up every time you see something beginning with X and ending with B? Can't you just leave it behind so you can get on with your board and we can get on with ours? I don't see why you need to hold a grudge...
it's good to see XMB back up... I always like to have a few different pieces of software outthere. Myself I'm closely involved in phpBB (support, not development) but that doesn't mean I have to enter a war against the other pieces of forum software outthere, as some others seem to do ;)
anyway, good to see XMB back on the scene. Hope things work out better this time round.

Yeah, XMB seems pretty simple and easy to use. Would be interested to try again when that bug's sorted out.
In the meantime, I've tried a recent version of Invision Power Board (1.12) and it seems to be exactly what I'm after. Theme system seems a little confusing at the moment but I've been messing around and can have different themes on different forums on the same board, and haven't noticed any bugs yet.
Another related question though! Has anyone made a bridge for Invision Board and Postnuke yet to share the user base?
:D Cheers, Joey.

What is your point, im not trying to create a flame or anything but i dont have a grudge, i didnt say anything bad about Richard there, i just thought Stefan might have wanted to know about it.
Enough said.

Dunno why you put Richard and AventureMedia Team in quotation marks...
guys... I don't want to get in the middle of this, but lets just quit the discussion. it's useless. we all have our own opinions and our own software that we're linked to. lets not make a war out of it, but just be friendly competitors ;)
