View Full Version : Best cart? Best platform?
What is your pick for the best affordable fullscale shopping cart?
What about the best platform (ASP/SQL, PERL/CGI, PHP/MySQL, CFML)?
Looking to develop a few sites, and am lost in the sea of choices out there. Lookign specifically for full featured but easy to develop and run, turning the keys over to the shop owner inside 3 months.
TIA!

I have developed a shop program
But I don't know if it's enough for your needs
maybe you need more full featured a & more full scale like amazon.com.
I thing the platform could be anything, as long as it's raised all capability for shoping script.
For Script or Programing Language :
I prefer PHP to build this application, it's quite easy and fast as development tool.
For Database :
I know only MySQL,
for me it's quite good for storing data.
but in the and, it's all your choice to decide what you want.
If you like to try my script, You can visit my site at
http://www.ridwank.com
and choose Shopping Carts on left-menu,
then click View Demo,
& the admin page is opened to try
But, Sorry Download is unavailable,
I plan to sell this program :)
regards,
well, there's a lot of good shopping carts outthere. it highly depends on what you need. you have the easily installable but more basic shopping carts. a good example is eStore. It's very easy to install and customize, but might not be as full-featured as for instance osCommerce. osCommerce on the other hand is much harder to install because it is so massive in features.
the combinations of scripting languages you are referring to by the way are not platforms. there's a nice rant about calling php/MySQL a platform in the editors column in the most recent issue of php|architect ... ;)
anyway, there is no best 'platform' ... here as well, it's what your needs are that decides which one is best.

oscommerce - the best
it's opensource and a huge user community

I'd like to invite you to check out A QuickEStore. It's a Cold Fusion cart that has very many functions, is quite robust, and yet sets up and runs very quickly and easily. Integration with many payment processors (which is optional, by the way) is built right in. It's quite nice, if I do say so myself.
I like Cold Fusion for a platform, because it allows easily customizable back-end functionality, like sales and inventory tracking and reporting, order processing, etc. To me, it's easier to program than asp, for example. If someone wants a report or a store template that I don't already have, I can usually crank it out with relative ease.
Thanks

Hello,
My bet is for osCommerce. I know the script very well and the huge community make all things easier.
Also, you can install it in just seconds. If you need some extra features you can choose from about 970 modifications (free, too).
This is my opinion only.
