No offense, but Lyrics are copyrighted by the song publishers. I don't see how anyone could come to you (legally speaking) with a database of lyrics that they have the "rights" to, unless the contents within were all public domain. I think that most artists look the other way, as far as lyrics are concerned, but it seems that what you were asking for is a bit unrealistic in that regard.

gizmoitus, thanks for the tip! Actually, my lawyer's assistant just told me the same. Being a good citizen, I don't want any trouble, so I changed my mind. First I thought that if the credit to artist/performer is given, then its all right as long as i don't say I wrote them. But I guess its better not even to deal with this. I guess i'll be developing just the search engine then.
